Video Planning

Many times all the direction that is needed for certain photo shoots, is from the account strategists, especially when the assignment is simple, and straightforward.

However, when the video that needs to be produced is about a more complicated subject. It makes the results much better to have a creative planner consult with you, storyboard, and refine the instructions for the photo team to get the best result.

Because we’re located in Seattle, we have videographers on staff that we can dispatch at low, consistent pricing. Our basic Seattle shoot simple includes one videographer and standard equipment sets.

This is the baseline standard of the shoot, however, you can add additional resources. Your strategist will most likely suggest the needed add-ons and let you know if there will be an additional cost to getting the images you need.

Types of Videos:

Interview or Informational Video

An interview, informational or “talking head” video is a staple of website About pages. They are great for educating new clients about who you are and what your story is. Typically we send a single videographer with lights and a microphone, and a list of interview questions. This is the raw footage that comes back to our editors.

The editing process is about finding a story thread in the answers you give during the interview. This is a particular talent because answers themselves may seem unrelated in their raw form.  Our editors’ job are to not only edit down and create smooth transitions but also to find and support the key sound bites, so the video makes sense.

Whiteboard Video

A whiteboard video is the simplest form of motion graphic. The process for development is similar to that of infographics.

We start with a consultation in order to understand what about your business or industry you’re we’re going to be explaining through the whiteboard video. We follow that up with several hours of research and an internal meeting, to develop the sketch storyboard and script of what the video will look like.

Once we have the sketch and script we sit down with you to review our visual understanding of the concept. During that meeting, we make adjustments based on your feedback. Once we’ve settled on the storyboard and script, the design process begins.

Complete Text Overlay Video (Seattle)

This product is a complete text overlay video running 60-90 seconds (or a series of videos totaling 60-90 seconds). It includes the following services:

  • Brand Strategist Video Planning: Once you and your strategist have decided what kind of video you want, we meet internally to discuss what the shot list needs to be and ensure that the videographer has enough of a conceptual understanding of what is needed.
  • Basic 2-Hour Seattle Area Shoot: This covers a two-hour shoot with one person. However, more resources can be added to the shoot if necessary.
  • Post-Production & Editing: Complete editing and compilation of footage from shoot.
  • Text Overlay: Some videos benefit from text overlay or mixed media. This is where text or images appear to interact with objects in the background.

Editing Types:

Facebook Caption Formatting

Facebook has a very particular video format that it favors. They have been focusing so much on the mobile first initiative, for years. Because people typically don’t use sound on their phone, videos often require captioning, to capture the user.

In addition to this, Facebook favors videos that are in the 1:1 aspect ratio. This is to not bother the user with rotating their phone when they are watching a video. This is why many videos on facebook are square. Videos that were originally shot in landscape format, are typically also edited to have black on the top and bottom, in order to convert them into the standard square format.

Many people use the black space on the top and the bottom to add extra eye-catching content to encourage viewership.

These videos perform over 80% better than all other content on facebook and are well worth the investment.

Hype Video/ Sizzle Reel

Cutting together an exciting reel is one of the quickest and easiest kinds of video production. This process leaves creative control entirely up to the video editor to work with splitting, mixing and matching the client’s existing video content into something that excites people. These videos are very good for social media, or to promote events.

Mixed Media Text Overlay

Some videos benefit from text overlay or mixed media. This is where text or images appear to interact with objects in the background. To do this requires a particular skill set of both creative and technical expertise. Because of this, we bill this service by the hour, as projects have a wide variability.

Add-ons:

Motion Graphics

Motion graphics are essentially video versions of infographics. The process similar to whiteboard videos. However, they take longer in production due to the complexity of the illustrations and the fact that they must be manually produced.

We start with a consultation in order to understand what about your business or industry you’re we’re going to be explaining through the motion graphic video.

The design process is typically a labor intensive collaboration between our graphic designers and our video editors. During that same time, our content team produces the voiceover through our pool of talent. Once the two pieces are completed they are combined and presented to you for final revisions.

Video Scripts

Many videos can be created by just capturing your product or service in action. However, often the shots need to be more specific in what needs to be communicated. When this happens our writers work with you to develop a script for the video, to ensure that you’re able to communicate exactly what’s needed. For an interview-based video, our writers will work with you to compose a list of questions to be prepared for the interview.
